NEW BOOK: LUIS EDUARDO PEREZ MURCIA, “A LONG JOURNEY HOME: LOSING AND REMAKING HOME FOLLOWING CONFLICT AND DISPLACEMENT” (BERGHAHN, OA, 2025)

Former Hominger Luis Eduardo Pérez Murcia has just published A long journey home, a major contribution to the study of home, and to the quest and the struggle for it, after forced displacement. Based on in-depth narrative fieldwork in Colombia, this open-access book examines the experiences of those whose sense of home has been disrupted by decades of conflict and violence. It highlights the profound feelings of loss and the enduring struggle of living without a home – an experience that can last for years or even decades. Through these stories, the book reveals how internally displaced people use creativity and imagination to remake their home while on the move.
