HOMING @ IMISCOE 2024: ‘MIGRATION AS A SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION: A REFLEXIVE TURN’ (LISBON, 2-5 JULY)


As a part of the IMISCOE annual conference in Lisbon, 2-5 July, Paolo Boccagni will participate in a twofold session, co-convened with Alejandro Miranda-Nieto, on Home as metaphor: Exploring emotional, material and heuristic dimensions of migration. The hybrid panels, on 2 July afternoon, will also include contributions from E. Busse-Cárdenas, Q. Chen, A.C. Corrales-Øverlid, E. Gubrium, K. Nikielska-Sekuła, M. Povrzanović Frykman, D. Sampaio. Furthermore, on 4 July Boccagni will join a workshop on More handbooks, more reflexivity? On the drivers, prospects and implications of a recent turn in the academic market of migration studies. The workshop, convened by G. Sciortino, will include contributions from R. Brandhorst, M. Cvajner, A. Hunter, R. King, J. Schapendonk, A. Triandafyllidou, I. Van Liempt. Each participant will critically draw from their own handbooks, one of them being the Handbook on Home and Migration
