The first 2017 seminar of HOMInG has been with Loretta Baldassar (UWA) on visits home – her long-standing topic of research, related to several cohorts of Italian migrants in Australia. Issues of care, distance, polymedia, co-presence and home are also touched upon. Theoretically, Loretta argues for re-visiting visits as a matter of kinning and homemaking. “Do you have two homes? Yes and no. The other thing of having to homes is not having any, and feeling that wherever you are the home is the other place … maybe we make home by kinning it”.
