“The diasporic community, in a white settler society like Australia, is supposed to be a home for its own cultural group. It is supposed to create a sense of belonging. However, for an LGBT person within that community there is tension of perhaps not belonging in that diasporic community, not belonging in the white settler society either, and then needing to find another place to belong”.
