Applications are welcome for the 2019 edition of the International Summer School in Ethnography. The school is convened by Paolo Boccagni, Andrea Brighenti and Ester Gallo at the Department of Sociology, University of Trento. The 2019 edition will take place on September 9-13. Keynote speakers will include Gordon Matthews (Chinese University of Hong Kong), Veena Das (Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore), Rachael Kiddey (University of Oxford) and Andrea Pavoni (ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon).
The school is addressed to PhD students and postdocs across social sciences (max. 22 participants). The fee for participation is Euro 400, inclusive of tuition, coffee breaks and lunches; travel and accommodation costs are not included. Based on budget availability, up to four reduced fees will be arranged for students from universities based in “C” countries, according to ISA’s income categories (see the following: https://www.isa-sociology.org/en/membership/table-of-economies-by-category).
In order to apply please submit your CV, a 500-word bionote (to be shared with other participants), a motivation letter and a short ethnographic research project (about 2,000 words long, including empirical contexts, focus and research questions) to ethnography.soc@unitn.it.
