Irene Cieraad, a well-know anthropologist of domestic space and material culture based at TU Delft, gave the third HOMInG seminar of 2017. Her talk traces anthropological approaches on the study of domestic environments, as well as the historical development of home in Western culture. In examining multiple conceptualisations of home, Cieraad foregrounds the significance of the material and convivial, the opposition between home and work, as well as the role of privacy and neighbourhoods in the making of home.
